Super easy to install, super sturdy, yes it fits pre 2015 tacomas (2012 install went fine). The instructions are awful, but it's 3 bolts on each side and 2 bolts through the rack. Took me 2 seconds of putting it different ways to see which way it had to go, and 15 minutes to finish bolting things on. I shook it as hard as I could and it didn't budge at all. I'd be comfortable tying off heavy things to it and or setting heavy things on it.
