It's really two pans in one, the "lid" can also be used as a shallow pan, and is constructed exactly like the deeper roaster. The strong, lift out rack works in either pan and easily accommodated both a 6lb chicken and 5lb duck at the same time. The rack can sit on the bottom of the roaster or be lifted slightly and set on the edge of the pan to have more room under the roast if needed. You could fit a large turkey, prime rib, or crown roast with room to spare. This large roaster does take up a lot of room, but the off-set handles help it to fit in a standard size oven.
