This is VERY soft and smushy. If you want a deep, thick, mattress pad that you can sink into, this is the one for you. We've tried feather beds (go flat quickly), memory foam (too hot) and other convoluted pads (not very deep) and this is the best option by far. It does add a lot of height to the bed, so sheets need to be very deep, but it's worth it. Also, the fact that two twin pads are supplied for a king size doesn't seem like an issue to us. What's the big deal? If you want to trim it, sturdy scissors will do the trick, but it fit our bed just fine.
