Many pumps are. However, compatible replacement options do vary depending on your pressure washer’s engine shaft diameter & engine orientation, the original pump’s bolt pattern, and your engine's horsepower. What pump do I need if my shaft has a spline/gear instead of a keyway? Your original pump was likely a strap-style (or bow tie) pump. That style isn’t made anymore. However, you can remove the spline and use your model number to find a replacement pump that you’ll install directly onto the shaft with a keyway. Do I need a keyway for installation, and do your pumps come with one? Our pumps do require a keyway for installation onto the engine shaft. If a keyway is pictured in the listing, it will come with one. If you need to purchase one separately, you can do so from our catalog. Do I need to change the oil in my pump? Many of our pumps don’t require oil maintenance, but some models do need oil changes. Generally, pumps with an oil vent port will need regular oil changes. Pumps without that port are sealed units and don’t need oil changes.

My old Craftsman pressure wash pump finally died. After looking up an OEM replacement, I've found that the price was as or almost as much as purchasing a brand new pressure washer. Also noticed the original pump has been 'redesigned' and based on may sites that sell it, shows to be 2600 PSI unit even though my machine is 3000 PSI: Craftsman Model 580.752212.After searching the 'whole Internet' for a pump with a similar OEM mounting - last photo, I came up short. All pumps I found either had a 3/4" shaft or was a much lower PSI rating having a 7/8" shaft.Finding a pump rated for 3000+ PSI in the OEM bolt pattern at a reasonable price was nearly impossible, but I have found pumps rated 3000 PSI or greater that use the engine's bolt pattern instead at a good price point. After much research I found this manufacturer / Brand the ROP Shop. I measured engine's main mounting bolt pattern, which does match what the web site showed so I decided to take a chance knowing this pump was not designed for my pressure washer and I may have to make a spacer for each mounting ear. After the pump arrived, Yup, I had to make spacers. I made spacers from 1/2" aluminum tube (approx. .377" ID) cut to length, which fit the 3/8" bolt perfectly. To get the length for cutting the tube, I bottomed out the engine shaft in the pump, measured the distance from the top of the mounting ear to the bottom of the engine mount and made my spacers 1/8" longer - See photos of mounted pump.NOTE: you have to be very accurate with your cuts. If one spacer is shorter or longer, you risk cracking one of the ears or causing the pump to bind.Because I needed longer bolts, I figured I'd use Grade 8, even though Grade 5 would probably be fine and in my case the bolt length needed was 3". I then snugged everything up and finally tightening it fully. You need to be careful, tighten each ear a bit at a time or you can crack it.I cranked the motor a few times to make sure no binding occurred. I also purchased a pressure gauge,(Pressure test gauges are not expensive), as I wanted to know if this pump produces what is advertised - I've seen other reviews for other brands where people where people mentioned they did not get the pressure advertised. On the next warm weekend, I tested the pressure washer as I had a project the called for it.After starting the engine, NO abnormal vibration occurred, unit ran smoothly, the pump produced the pressure advertised and I was able to complete my project. Note: when measuring pressure, you will have different pressure readings based on the tip used. I was using a tip which produced a 300-400 PSI drop. However, when the pressure gun was released (stopping water flow), the pressure the pump was producing jumped to 3000-3100 PSI as advertised. The tiny investment in a piece of 1/2" tube + three bolts, and a little time made this pump fit my brand pressure washer saving me $100's of dollars giving new life to my older Craftsman pressure washer.I'm very happy with this purchase and supplier. Shipping was fast, got the unit a couple of days after purchase, and the ROP Shop's web site made purchasing the pump easy - they provided all the specs including measurements of the mounting ears.
