I adopted a kitten after about 10 years of not having a cat. I have a giant breed dog and a large breed puppy. I wanted something that could keep the dogs from going into the room with the litter box. I wanted the kitten to be able to go through easily. I also wanted my husband and I to be able to walk through with having to climb over it. We have a very narrow door. I searched for a while before settling on this baby gate. I love it!! My husband said it did take a while for him to install it. He did not drill it in, we wanted to be able to move it about the house if needed. Let me tell you, when I came home and used it I fell in love. I could easily open the gate and walk through it. At the time, the puppy could still fit his head through the cat door. His big head would get stuck. No worries, we just closed the cat door. The kitten was small enough that she could just walk through the slats. Months later and we now have a second kitten. The Rottie puppy's head is now too big to fit through the cat door. We now have the cat door opened back up. Honestly, my kittens 3 months and 6 months just go through the slats or just completely over it. Which is not a problem for us! I still love the one handed opening of the gate. Recently, we moved the gate to our bedroom bathroom door after getting a litterbox in there. We put on of the older baby gates in the room where this gate was. I totally see the value of buying another one of these! With the older style, we have to step over the gate. Or just move it, which is a hassle. Sometimes my husband forgets to close it after he goes in or out the cat room. At those times the dogs go in and wreck havoc to the litterbox that is in the cat condo. We will definitely get another one of these. I am just saving up money for it. These gates are not cheap!! But they are worth it!! I do wish they came in a different color. If you are hesitating of getting this or not, DO IT!!!! It is very sturdy. I see this gate lasting a long time. A helpful tip, my dogs are huge. English Mastiff 134 pounds, Rottweiler puppy 100 pounds. They have not jumped over these gates! They have also not tried to chew them. My Rottie is a savage and destroys everything! He has not bothered these gates at all. So yes, this buy was so worth it even despite the price.
